4STB Transmission - (13) Years later & Running as Strong as Ever
At that time it was rated to handle 700hp. Since then this new transmission has proven itself in a multitude of Ford, GM, Mopar and Import applications. It has also gone through a number of additional enhancements. It is now more versatile then ever and can be retrofitted to nearly every production motor including the GM LS1, the early and late Mopar Hemi, and the Ford FE and Mod motors.
It has a 3 speed full manual valve body with electric over-drive that has also been upgraded. It now has an optional Trans-brake that's as fast as many competition style brakes. By internally substituting the lighter, more durable stamped steel drums, this unit now provides greater HP throughput and efficiency. Although the 4STB has a basic rating of 900hp (about the same as any well built Turbo400), it's now available with an optional Higher HP valve body upgrade.
This modification provides even greater torque holding capacity in 3rd gear and has been successfully used in 4000 lb. cars with 1200hp. The 4STB trans is very appealing to all Pro Street/Strip applications, because aside from its ease of installation and power handling capabilities, it features the best OD ratio (0.67).

If you're looking for an overdrive transmission that will handle any type of high powered application, we would certainly recommend our 4STB (4-speed w/optional trans-brake). It's an automatic transmission that starts off as a Ford AOD. However, that's where the similarities end. After we build it, this transmission functions more like a full-manual Pro Competition Turbo400 with an electric overdrive. It has the best OD ratio of all transmissions (0.67). It's a "true" Street/Strip overdrive transmission that's adaptable to just about any production motor, and can handle up to 900+hp in a 3500lb car.
We've had this transmission on the market since Feb of 1997 (for more than 10 years). It has proven itself time and again in a multitude of Street/Strip high HP applications. It has a full-manual valve body with a "forward" 3-speed shift pattern. We provide a "lighted" toggle switch for activating over-drive in 3rd gear (or an optional relay controler w/ auto re-set and a momentary push-button switch which is generally preferred). The optional trans-brake feature (if desired) is activated in low gear using a "line-lock" type switch mounted on the shifter. (or any momentary type switch).
We've used this transmission in a variety of GM, Ford, Mopar and even Import applications. All conversions (other then the small block Ford engine) require the use of the SFI Adapter bell housing which is included. The over all length becomes 31 1/2" with the trans mount at 23 3/4" back from the front of the bellhousing. You'll also need a floor shifter with a 3-speed forward shift pattern that has a neutral lockout. Your existing shifter might be adequate, especially if it uses a cable to operate the shift lever on the trans.
If you're using your vehicle strictly for the street and your produces less than 650 HP, you'll need a 10" Street/Strip type converter. If you plan on using the Trans-brake feature (or if the motor has more than 650 HP), the Full Race type converter would be required. These converters are built to handle the power as well as incorporate the "anti-ballooning" plates to handle the higher temperature and pressure. In order to set up the converter with proper stall RPM we will need you to fill out our converter application form.
